Welcome to The Hunter's Moon
The Hunter’s Moon, the first full moon after the Harvest Moon, is a super-lunar event between October and November. In the UK, it traditionally marked the time to fill stores for winter – the last hunt before the cold. Folklore says that Father and Son would hunt one final time until spring, fires would be stoked, smokers prepared, and larders filled, ready for winter. This might seem dark, but it also highlights how families and communities worked together at the sign of the Hunter’s Moon to stay comfortable and well-fed during hard times.
Contemporary European Cuisine with a Twist
Open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, The Hunter’s Moon is a warm and welcoming spot in the heart of South Kensington. Our menu changes with the seasons, bringing together modern European cooking and quality British ingredients.
Whether you’re popping in for a leisurely lunch, dinner with friends, or a drink at the bar, you’ll find everything from fresh oysters and seasonal starters to hearty mains like moules marinière, Chicken Kyiv and dry-aged bavette steak. Alongside the menu, we serve daily specials, thoughtful wines and classic cocktails in a relaxed pub setting.
Our Venue
Oak and vintage tile flooring, and textured walls sit alongside soft autumnal coloured furnishings, touches of opulent velvet, and feature pendant lighting. The pub at the front champions comfort and is perfect for more intimate get-togethers, with its cosy nooks and comfy aged leather armchairs, where you can unwind with a good book or enjoy a quiet chat.
The dining room, flooded with natural light from large skylights, offers homely touches including an original AGA stove that adds a rustic charm, complemented by an open fireplace that crackles warmly in the evenings.
